Increasing global competition and digital devices enable, or perhaps more accurately, compel, 24/7 connectivity, creating an environment in which we log hours far beyond the point of diminishing returns. The result is a costly epidemic of burnout. The condition is global, but it seems as if America has a particularly exceptional case of it.
